Summer Educator Externship

The Summer Educator Externship is designed to engage educators from school districts in the Kansas City region whose students have not engaged in NICE’s programs and events. The program illustrates the important role that the construction industry plays in everyday life and highlights the value of providing their students with this information for career exploration, understanding of the built environment, and to close the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge. Creating this purposeful connection and understanding between industry needs and classroom content in the areas of math, science and communication skills is critical in fostering a prepared workforce. This 24-hour program will include teams of 3 educators from each participating school district that will have the opportunity for direct interaction with 3 skilled trade entities, as well as 3 professional services entities. Team members may consist of district-wide personnel, personnel from a specific school within the district, or a mixture thereof.
