About Us
Develop Our Future Workforce For Success
The National Institute for Construction of Excellence (NICE) was established in 1998 to design a construction education program which would increase awareness of the potential construction career fields of engineering, architecture, contracting and the skilled trades to young people, parents and educators.
NICE believes that students, whether they attend college or not, deserve to have a rewarding career that provides them with a good quality of life. It is our mission at NICE to engage with the students several times a year, beginning in 6th grade and continuing that level of engagement through their senior year in high school.
We Have A Vision For The Future Of Construction.
How We Help
Construction Apprenticeship
Program Meet
NICE, in collorabation with the various apprecticeships programs, will arrange for educators to meet with apprenticeship instructors and directors to learn about career options, academic requirements, and earning potential associated with these career paths. Participants will also take part in hands-on activities.
Construction Career Handbook
This unique guide to the skilled trades presents consistent categorical information across all the trades that is expressed by each trade in their own words. Students and young adults can now view a variety of trades in one publication that offers access to responses to the same issues – an “apples to apples” approach. This document provides helpful information about each apprenticeship program and offers insight to the work that each skilled trade performs.
Career Information
NICE has collaborated with area businesses and various skilled trade apprenticeship programs so that high school seniors, post-secondary students, teachers and parents can view content about these programs on a virtual platform. In these Career Exploration Episodes, you will hear from business leaders and apprenticeship instructors/directors to learn about career options, academic requirements, and earning potential associated with these career paths.
High School CAD
The National Institute for Construction Excellence and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) collaborate on a CAD Design Project/Competition which is designed for high school students. The project/contest provides recognition to students for creative design, successful problem solving and craftsmanship in preparing architectural drawings.
